The voice, ideas and work of South Yorkshire’s children and young people were at the heart of the Dynamite project.  Supported using public funding from Arts Council England and delivered by an exceptional creative team, experienced in creating excellent artistic experiences for children and young people; the project inspired and engaged children and young people in excellent arts experiences that celebrate regional creativity and heritage.   Through creating, exhibiting and performing creative writing, art, music and drama in traditional and non-traditional performance spaces, South Yorkshire’s children and young people in-turn inspired professional artists to create Come Rain or Shine, a new South Yorkshire history play that toured schools in the winter of 2013.

The exciting and multi-layered project combined the R&D process for a new play with: researching the impact of creative participation; dynamic creative artists; opportunities for new and emerging artists; access to cultural venues and experiences for those that don’t normally engage in the arts.  The project also saw the expansion and development of Griffin Theatre Arts as a creative organisation, and the strengthening of links between professional artists and arts organisations in South Yorkshire.
